I am not a perfect mom...

I am not a perfect mom... I am not a perfect person... I am not a perfect wife... I am not a perfect daughter... I am not a perfect wife... I am not perfect and I never will be.

I am a person who tries her best to do things for anyone I can. I am a person who loves with her whole heart and for that sometimes I get hurt in return. I am a person who will give anything just to make sure her daughter has the best of everything I can offer. I do not have the perfect body and I never will... but I do have a perfect understanding of who I am and I love myself.

I will never be perfect, but then again I don't want to be perfect. I am who I am and I love me!

Dessert Recipe of the Month

Here is the dessert recipe of the month...

I am on weight watchers so the recipes for a few months will be that...

Angel Food Pineapple Loaves

1 box of angel food cake
1 large can of pineapples

You mix the 2 together with no other ingredients and you fill cupcake liners. I was able to make over 24 cupcakes. You put the liners in a few baking pans and you bake them together. Bake for 15 minutes and wooooooa la. Delicious pineapple loaves that are only 1 point each. And they are soooooo good.

Definitely a recipe that I will be keeping and adding to my collection and definitely one that I will do after I am done using weight watchers. Its so good!

Favorite Holiday and Why

My favorite holiday of all time is Christmas.

I love the music. I can listen to Christmas music every day of my life if other people let me.

I love the decorations. I love the Christmas trees and the lights and the ornaments. I love wrapping the presents for my girls and for family and then watching my girls unwrap presents on Christmas day or when they are with us.

I love it when the snow falls, but I hate driving when the snow has fallen. If I can stay home during a snow storm, I LOVE IT! I love building snowmen with my daughter and having snow ball fights.

I love everything about it. I love talking to my kids about the birth of Christ and celebrating his birth!

I can go on and on and on... Christmas is my favorite time of the year!

Dinner Recipe of the Month

I have decided to choose a recipe to try and post on here each month... something I have never tried before and something that I have always wanted to try... I will add my experiences each month and will add pictures!

White Chicken Chili ... if you are doing weight watchers it is 3 points per 1 cup DELICIOUS!

Here's what you'll need:
2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed (uncooked)
2 cups chicken broth
1 can white corn, drained
2 (15 oz) cans Great Northern Beans
(Can puree one can for a thicker chili)
1 small diced onion (or 1 Tbs. dried onion flakes)
1/2 cup light sour cream
1 (4 oz.) can diced green chilies
1 (14 oz.) can diced tomatoes
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 packet of McCormick's White Chili Seasoning Mix
(Dashing Dish's recipe calls for 1 packet of White Bean Chili Seasoning mix, but I wasn't able to find it...)

Now, once you have all the ingredients, you have 2 options, stove top cooking OR slow cooker cooking.
I was in a hurry, so I used the stove top method: Dump everything in a large pot and cook on medium heat for 45 minutes to an hour, stirring occasionally.

If you want to cook in a crock-pot*, dump all the ingredients and cook on low for 8 hours.

Money vs happiness?

Which is more important? Money or happiness?

To me, money can not buy happiness. Money can alleviate financial burdens/struggles, but it can not buy happiness. True happiness comes from just being yourself and not worrying about the money part of it.

I have definitely struggles with bills, medical bills, student loans etc... but I never let that affect my happiness. Money comes and goes, but your happiness is yours... Don't lose that ever!

Where you thought you would be?

Are you where you thought you would be in life?

I definitely pictured myself being in a house right now and having more than 1 kid, but life happens the way God plans for it to happen. It isn't done how you want it to be done. I have definitely learned that lesson over the years. Your life takes you on many ups and downs, but He finally lands you in the place you were meant to be!

I am thankful I have a loving husband in my life who takes care of me and loves me unconditionally and I am thankful for having the 2 girls in my life that I get to call ours! We are definitely blessed!

Exercise: Friend or Foe

I feel like this is a little of both...

Exercise is a friend to those that love to exercise and to those that are trying to lose weight. With exercise comes extra weight loss... BUT that being said, for me it is a foe as well. My knees hurt when I exercise so overcoming the pain from that is definitely something I will have to do to get to where I need to be in order to exercise more than 3 times a week.

So, I say both!

Letting go... How to get through it?

This is not an easy one for me to talk about because I have certain things that I am working on letting go myself. I think that letting God help you deal with things you need to let go of is a great way to help you, but I am still working on a few things with Him so its not as easy as it sounds.

I definitely believe that you have to be you in whatever you do and remember that the past is the past and all you can really focus on is the future. The future is all we have to look forward to in our life so why not try to move on and let go so it doesn't affect our future???

The Truth about Depression

1 in every 10 American's struggle with depression. That is a very high number if you ask me. I feel very strongly about the fact that depression is a real thing that people struggle with. Over the year I will write a few blogs about family that I have lost to the battle of depression.

Here are a few facts about depression:

  1. Depression is more than just a bad mood!
  2. Depression affects people of all ages... young and old...
  3. I feel like depression is a disease!
  4. It is not always easy for someone to admit they are depressed. 
  5. You are not the only one that is feeling depressed however you probably feel like you are!
  6. Depression is not always something you can talk yourself out of. 
  7. You deserve to get help for your depression.
  8. You are not always going to feel depressed. It will come and go with the passing of the days!
If you feel depressed and you have someone close you can talk to, please don't feel embarrassed to tell them that you are depressed. There is always someone that can help you find the help you need to start the process of feeling better!!! You are NOT alone!

Honest Confession about Motherhood

Being a mother is hard work. It is not easy and it never will be. Don't get me wrong, I have easy moments. There are days that things are awesome and we have no issues or struggles. And then there are days where I get called by her school because my daughter has broken something or has fallen. We have moments where my daughter and I do not get along at all and then there are moments where we get along great. 

There are nights where they are sick and there is nothing you can do but be there for them and sometimes that is enough. There are many sleepless nights and many tears that you will go through over the course of motherhood. 

It is not a walk in the park and it is not always fun, but it is worth every second... I would definitely do motherhood all over again if I had a choice. I love being a mother and my daughter is my world!

My family...

What my family means to me?

My family is the most important thing in my life. I grew up in a big family and we were all pretty close growing up. We might have not stayed as close as we get older, but I know if I ever need anyone, they will be right here by my side.

Family sticks together no matter what is going on and they love you unconditionally. I am very blessed to have the family that I have. The older I get the more I appreciate everyone in my life... It is a HUGE blessing!

Were you a better mother before or after your child?

I think this is a funny question because I don't really think you are a mother until after your children are born. You learn everything about being a mother after they are born and you get to experience motherhood.

Before I was a mom, I was really great with kids. I loved being around them and loved watching them, but it is TOTALLY different after you have kids. You can't give your kids back when you have them and it is YOU being the one that is responsible for them.

So, I think I am a better mother now... because before I just had great qualities that would make a good mom. Now I know what my great qualities are and what ones I need to work on...

Being a parent is the most rewarding thing I have EVER done!

Scariest Moment of your Life

My scariest moments of my life would be by far each ER visit I have to take my daughter to... There have been a few times over her lifetime and each time its very scary thinking my daughter is hurt and needs more help than you can give her.

There is just no worse feeling than watching your daughter go through an ER visit and be right there with her but know you can't help her the way she needs help. The cries and the looks of her being scared are enough to break me down!

Each visit we made it out just fine and with her feeling much better...

Do you believe in God?

I grew up in the Episcopal Church and there is one thing we recited during church every Sunday that I believe in... I am not adding one line in there where it says I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. I am not a catholic. I consider myself to be non-denominational. I believe in God and I love the church I go to...

The Nicene Creed:

    the Father, the Almighty,
    maker of heaven and earth,
    of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
    the only Son of God,
    eternally begotten of the Father,

My Weight Loss Journey

My Weight Loss Journey has begun... It has begun over and over again with different diets and different things to try, but nothing has gotten me to my goal weight...

Due to a few health issues I have been having, it is time to stick to a plan and make it happen.

I have chosen Weight Watchers. I have done it before in the past and it has worked before, I just didn't stick with it in the past. It is time to start that as well as start with an exercise plan. I will start off slow at first and then work my way up to working out at least 3-5 days a week. I don't want to overdo it at first and then get too exhausted and the desire to quit be there.

I know I can do it and I know I have amazing people backing me up and providing me with support to do what I need to do.

Happy New Year to all...

Welcome back... It is a new year with many new possibilities that can happen over 365 days. I am looking forward to all the changes that will happen in my life over this next year. 

For today's post I wanted to share a few of my 2015 year goals. I don't use the word resolution, because I always feel like a failure if I don't do what I say I will do in the resolution. Instead I am going to use goals... things that I want to work on with a goal to reach... that way no matter how close I get to this goal, I still moved forward in the right direction!

My first goal is going to be blogging daily for this whole year. Some days it will be easy and then some days it will be harder for me to get the blogs done. I know I can reach this goal, it will just take time and patience on my part to write what is on my mind...

My second goal is one of the biggest goals I have in my life... I want to reach my goal weight. I set small goals along the way so I can reach the smaller goals before the bigger ones and feel proud along the way... It will take me the whole year if not longer to reach my goal, but I will not stop until I get there! Today I made a Facebook group called "A Whole New You" for the ladies in my life that are encouraging and walking the same path as I am and just need an extra push from someone who knows what you are going through. I am excited to start this group and looking forward to starting weight watchers in January and getting into a routine of working out more.
